Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports always welcomes suggestions and ideas from the youth to further raise the quality of services in libraries nationwide to help shape the Language and Literature Bureau as the knowledge centre
This was highlighted by Awang Hj Mohd Rozan bin Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yunos, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, in his remarks during the final of the Brunei Darussalam Team Storytelling Competition yesterday. "The Brunei Vision 2035 is to create Brunei Darussalam as a developed country equipped with people who are educated, high-skilled and success is measured through high international standard. In addition, the lives of the people are of high quality and are among the top 10 countries in the world with its dynamic economic and competitiveness."
To support and realize Brunei Vision 2035, he said, "Definitely, we need to have a community that is knowledgeable, visionary, growth and competitive especially among the youth who will in the future become the leaders of the country. Therefore, I appreciate the continuous efforts of the Language and Literature Bureau to produce a knowledgeable community through the activities organized."
"I would like to stress to the Language and Literature Bureau that each activity that will be conducted must he based on the ideas and vision of the Government of His Majesty to diversify the economy and to make Brunei Darussalam as a Zikir Nation whereby its people practice life or culture that is good with the guidance of al-Quran and Hadith."
He also quoted His Majesty's titah in conjunction with the Knowledge Convention last year, "The aspirations are found in the 'Nation of Zikir' plan which requires knowledge to be taught, talks presented, exhibitions showcased, books written and libraries provided to make knowledge a basis for living in a nation. Wasn't knowledge prioritized in Islam? Wasn't the first verses brought by Allah the Almighty touch upon knowledge?"
