Bandar Seri Begawan - The Architect Youth Project workshop based on the theme Tor the Youth by the Youth' - recently ended after running for three days between March 4 and March 6 at the Youth Centre.
The workshop was organised by the Director of Arkitrek Company Sdn Bhd, Richard Strange with the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The guest of honour at the closing ceremony was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Hamid Haji Mohd Jaafar. Also present were senior officers of the ministry and workshop recipients.
The aim of the Architect Youth Project is to provide the youth with an opportunity to develop creative designs and to be innovative in their use of environmentally-friendly materials for Taman Belia in Berakas.
During the workshop, participants were divided into five groups. Each group performed a site analysis at Taman Belia, Berakas; visited a recycling company at Serasa Beach to search for wasted materials that can be utilised in their designs; and took the opportunity to exchange views and ideas as well as create a model in groups.
Participants exhibited their products and presented their proposed design for Taman Belia.
The Permanent Secretary then presented certificates of appreciation to conclude the ceremony.
Some of the participants involved are graduates of vocational schools and trainees of the Youth Development Centre.
