Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei Women's Institute (WI) will host a visit by more than 120 delegates - participants for the 10th Southeast & Far East Asia conference to be held in Miri, Sarawak from January 13 to 18.

The theme of the conference is "Voice of Women Worldwide-Empowering Transformation".

The one-day visit on January 16, to Brunei Darussalam is part of the event listed in the conference as part of an effort to further promote Brunei Darussalam to conference delegates that come from countries such as Malaysia, South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, UK, Canada and South Africa.

According to the Secretary General of Brunei Women's Institute (WI), Hajah Shamsiah Abd Latif, during the visit to Brunei the delegation will be led by the Crown Princess of Pahang, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Al-Marhum Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj, the conference chairperson and also Area President for the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW).

Also joining the delegation is the wife of Sarawak Head of State, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajah Norkiah; Puan May Kidd, President of Associated Country Women of the World and several executive and board members of ACWW from the head office in London.

The delegation will make a visit to Brunei's various places of interest, including the Royal Regalia Building in the capital and Brunei WI head office located at Jalan Bukit Bendera, Tutong.

The delegation will be treated to high tea and have the opportunity to mingle together with Brunei WI members from the four districts.

The highlight of the visit will be the tree planting cby President of ACWW for Southeast & Far East Asia Region, the wife of Sarawak Head of State and President of ACWW.

The programme is expected to end with a group photo before heading to Miri, Sarawak.

On December last year, the Crown Princess of Pahang led a 12-member delegation to Brunei as part of her early preparation for the conference.

The ACWW is the largest international organisation for rural women, with a membership of nine million in over 70 countries.
