At the site, His Royal Highness was briefed on the construction of the project which is aimed at developing an internationally renowned agrotechnology park as part of the economic diversification strategy through the development of agro-industry that focuses on manufacturing halal products. The project, a massive 500-hectare 'high-tech' one-stop industrial community, is expected to create more than 9,000 job opportunities including more than 2,000 at the professional level. The first phase which covers 50 hectares is scheduled for completion in January 2013. His Royal Highness then consented to sign a commemorative parchment.
His Royal Highness then consented to proceed to Phase One of the Mechanical Training Centre, also in Kampong Tungku. Upon arriving at the centre, His Royal Highness was greeted by Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Seta (Dr) Hj Awg Abu Bakar bin Hj Apong, the Minister of Education. His Royal Highness took a closer look at a number ofworkshops at the centre. The construction of the building which has been completed provides additional infrastructure which can accommodate more number of students in conducive and quality surrounding. The building is equipped with classrooms, workshops, auditorium, multi-purpose hall including an administration block which is aligned with the need to diversify the technical and vocational programmes in the country.
This is to meet the needs of diversifying technical and vocational programmes to increase job opportunities as well as to create potential businessmen in the future in automobile industry in this country.
His Royal Highness then consented to proceed to the Conference Room of the Mechanical Training Centre where His Royal Highness was briefed on the First Phase of the Jerudong-Tungku Link Road. The first phase of the project which involved earthworks have been completed. The overall project of the six-km dual carriageway link road is expected to be completed in 2013.
Before leaving the centre, His Royal Highness consented to sign a commemorative parchment. His Royal Highness then consented to visit the project site of the Jerudong-Tungku Link Road to take a closer look on the progress of the work. The working visit allowed His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the 10th National Development Plan, to have a closer look at the implementation, planning as well as operations carried out in the implementation of the development projects under the National Development Plan.
This is aimed at achieving Wawasan Brunei 2035, which is to be recognised everywhere for a well-educated and highly-skilled citizens, high quality of life and having a dynamic and sustainable economy.
