UBD holds Islamic Creative Video Competition 2012

Bandar Seri Begawan - "LENSA.MUSLIM" emerged as the winners of the Islamic Creative Video Competition 2012 beating nine other teams. The competition, organised by Universiti Brunei Darussalam's (UBD) Religious committee in collaboration with the Religious and Spiritual Unit of UBD Student Affairs as well as the religious and spiritual PMUBD executive, was held yesterday at the Lecture Hall 2 of Universiti Brunei Darussalam IBM Centre.

The guest of honour during the event was Associate Professor Dr Azman bin Ahmad, the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam who also presented the prizes to the winning groups. Also in attendance at the ceremony were officials from UBD, undergraduates and participants of the competition.

A welcoming speech was delivered by Dr Haji Ramlee bin Haji Tinkong shortly after the start of the ceremony.

The competition was opened to all ofundergraduates of Universiti Brunei Darussalam in which 10 groups of no more than five people were accepted to send in their video clips with the objective of raising awareness of the beauty of Islam as a guide to life for the realisation of a "Zikir Nation" that is based on Melayu Islam Beraja.

The competition also aimed to highlight the hidden talents in the undergraduates of UBD in expressing their innovative and creative ideas in channelling Islamic information towards the Brunei community.

The winners of the competition were announced after the showing of the 10 video clips in which "Lensa. Muslim" won the first prize of $450 at a percentage of 82.5 per cent, the second prize of $350 went to "Al-Amin" with a percentage of 81.1 per cent, while the third prize of $150 went to "Visionary Project" with a percentage of 78.5 per cent.
