Two Apprehended After Neighbour Reports Missing Property

Kuala Belait - Police personnel on duty at the Seria Police Station on Monday apprehended two suspects involved in a theft which was reported to have occured at a government residential house at Lorong 3 Seria on September 15.

A police report was lodged by the victim on the day of the incident, after he was informed by his parents at around 12 Noon that the items stored at the back of their house were missing.

Following police investigation, the stolen items were successfully recovered yesterday from the suspect's house, which was located behind the victim's residence.

The stolen items retrieved were valued at more than B$1,000. They included three speakers, a DVD player and a karaoke set.

The suspects, a 22-year-old man and his 17-year-old girlfriend were detained at Seria Police Station for further investigation.

The male suspect will be brought to the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court today while the underage suspect was released on police bail for further investigation. If proven guilty, they will be prosecuted under Section 379 of the Penal Code.

The Royal Brunei Police Force urges the public to cooperate in combatting crimes in the country. The police have also reminded members of the public to be cautious of their own safety and their property, especially in ensuring that their homes and vehicles are locked before they leave. In addition to that, valuables should not be left in the car.
