Madang - Tunas Jaya PGGMB School, Madang recently celebrated the 29th National Day.
The event started with the ushering of students to stand near the flag pole.
They sang the national anthem together while the flag was raised, followed by the school song and a doa led by Year 6 student, Md Syafie Fakhrusy bin Md Hanafiah Ali.
The students and teachers then went to the hall to start the ceremony.
Surah Al-Fatihah and doa was read by Cikgu Pg Hj Radzuan bin Pg Hj Abu Bakar and the Principal, Cikgu Hj Zulkipli bin Hj Ladis made his welcoming speech.
He emphasised that independence will not mean anything unless citizens of Brunei Darussalam know the commitment and hard work that goes into pursuing the country's vision and mission.
He also included that the philosophy of MIB (Malay Muslim Monarchy) should be implemented everyday in our daily lives.
Spiritually, he added it was important for educators to practice Islam's way of teaching students as a daily routine.
The event was then followed by a patriotic song by Year 4 students.
Two poems were read by Year 5 students; Md Nur Akmal Faizuddin bin Md Faizal - 'Bersila di atas Tikar Kemerdekaan' and Hana SafiraSalni bin Hj Md Salleh - 'Kemana Kita?'
The event was further enlivened with a fashion show of the national attire by the students.
A prize presentation for the best dressed was also conducted after that.
Lastly, a patriotic song lead by Year 5 and 6 students was performed and the principal, teachers and staff sang along. The event concluded with the Doa read by Cikgu Shahnon bin Hj Basman.
