Death of woman

Bandar Seri Begawan - With regards to a recent case where a woman was found dead in Jerudong, the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has refuted speculations that her body parts were scattered on the road.

At a press conference with the Criminal Investigation Department yesterday, senior police personnel disclosed that the body parts of the deceased were found in a specific area, and not on the road. The incident occurred where the elephant was located, they said.

The police said it was still too early to come to a conclusion that the elephant was not involved, as investigations are still ongoing.

He revealed that the police are working closely with the Forensic Department and pathologist to provide a clearer picture, however a full report from the pathologist is not ready. The report will be out once a thorough examination is completed.

Even if the pathologist's report is released, he said, "We will not be able to provide any information on the outcome because in an investigation, the pathologist's report is one issue and the circumstance surrounding it is a separate issue. We have to put the puzzle together and will have to take the case to the Attorney General's Chambers for further advice. As long as the case is not brought to the court, we can only provide limited information."

Currently the case is not categorised as murder and the investigation is undergoing.

On a separate case whereby a Filipino man was allegedly assaulted by several men last Monday night in Gadong, the police have revealed that there will be positive development in the case and an arrest will be made in the coming days.

Meanwhile in the case of two Pizza Hut staff who were robbed in broad daylight on February 27, 2013 in the Gadong area, the police are currently looking for suspects relating to the robbery and seeking the public to come forward with any information about the case.

According to the police, it is confirmed that the staff sustained injuries from stabbing.

The police added, "All the cases are not connected. Things just happened randomly."

To further ensure the public's safety, the Royal Brunei Police Force will increase its patrol and presence in public places as a precautionary measure.
