Bandar Seri Begawan - Staff members from The Empire Hotel and Country Club and SDV Logistics as well as four students from DES School recently took part in a three-day Fire Marshall course, which was held at the Fire and Rescue Department Headquarters in Berakas, according to a press release from The Empire Hotel and Country Club.
The three-day programme was led by Andi Karmila Waty bte Hj Abd Karim together with Operational Branches PRO `C' and 'F'.
The highlight of the course was on the importance of fire safety and emergency procedures, with the objective to educate participants on the common fire hazards and preventions at work.
Apart from this, certified participants will help in delivering this message and knowledge to their colleagues to implement at work.
On hand to present the certificates was SFR Nohi Irwan Surkarni bin Hj Pawi, Head of Vehicles Engineering and Technical, who also presented prizes For Best Male, Hj Jamrie bin Hj Tinkong, From SDV Logistics, Best Female, Faridah bte Ibrahim from The Empire Hotel and Country Club, and Best Female, Najihah bte Hj Shari, from DES School.
Meanwhile, Hj Dahlan bin Hj Sudin, Fire Chief at The Empire Hotel and Country Club, said that the programme was useful for everyone to understand on identifying command fire hazards and prevention, as well as to enable participants to learn the correct manner in handling emergency situations.
It also aimed to enlighten participants on the duties and responsibilities of a fire marshal, as well as to demonstrate the correct methods of using portable fire extinguishers and the fire marshal course served to better equip the hotel staff in case of an emergency.
