Temburong - A double operation was conducted by Temburong Police on Wednesday.
Supt Pg Haji Muhammad bin Pengiran Haji Metali, the Officer Commanding Police District of Temburong led the 33-personnel operation conducted by officers from Temburong Police District Headquarters, Bangar Police Station and the Temburong branch of the Department of Criminal Intelligence.
The operation consisted of two parts, one of which was a roadblock aimed at catching traffic offenders on Jalan Puni along Kampong Ujong Jalan.
A second operation, aimed at nabbing offenders who crossedtheborderbetween Temburong and Limbang without going through proper immigration checkpoints, was conducted at Ujong Jalan ferry point.
The three-hour long operation, which started at 7pm, caught drivers who committed not only road traffic offences, but also offenders who failed to comply with the nation's immigration and customs Laws.
Offenders included local and foreign-registered vehicles.
Three offences were reported at the conclusion of the operation.
A Malaysian-registered vehicle was stopped for not producing a valid road tax.
One foreigner driving a Brunei-registered vehicle was also stopped for carrying 12 cans of alcoholic beverages without having them declared to customs officials.
A local driver in a local vehicle was also stopped for re-entering Temburong from Limbang without going through the immigration post.
Both the drivers and their vehicles were brought to Bangar Police Station for further investigations.
Based on the success of last Wednesday night's operation, similar operations will be conducted to prevent a repeat of the offences.
