Students Learn Historical Value Of Kampong Ayer

Bandar Seri Begawan - A group of 19 pupils with six supervising teachers from Binturan Primary School, Tutong I went on a guided tour of Kampong Ayer.

The group was led by Cikgu Hjh Zirwatul Yusrani binti Hj Awg Besar.

The visit started at the Kampong Ayer Cultural and Tourism Gallery. Welcoming them was an officer from Brunei Tourism. At the Kampong Ayer Gallery, the visitor viewed the entire display at the gallery hall and was briefed on the changes of Brunei from the 10th Century until the present day, as well as the recent economic and social developments.

A quiz was also held for the pupils where prizes were presented at the end of the visit.

The pupils also went on a river cruise around Kampong Ayer and was shown some of the legendary historical artefacts found along the river such as the legendary Lumut Lunting and Jong Batu. They then made a stop at one of the houses at Kampong Ayer and served with traditional biscuits.

According to Cikgu Hjh Zirwatul Yusrani, the visit was made to support His Majesty's Government in making Kampong Ayer a tourist destination and a unique place to visit.

It was also aimed at exposing the pupils about Kampong Ayer and its historical value to Brunei Darussalam's history.

The visit was also part of the school's annual activities for its Year 6 pupils after sitting for their PSR examinations.
