Bandar Seri Begawan - The ripas National Blood Bank collected more blood to replenish the blood bank's supply through a blood drive initiated by the Commerce Department of STPRI yesterday.
According to the Head of Department of Commerce, Siti Rouzilawatty DP Hj Wahabi, the initiative was taken to answer the call of the National Blood Bank's needs for supply of blood as there is tremendous demand for blood needed to replace blood lost during accidents, injuries, surgeries and patients with chronic diseases.
This prompted the department to carry out a blood drive initiative among the teaching and non-teaching staff at the school, as requirement for blood donation is 18 years above while students at the school range below 18 years of age.
Siti Rouzilawatty said that the activity is seen as a good cause and as a way to help save lives, adding that the department has therefore decided to make the activity part of the school's annual programme of events.
