Steer Clear Of Deviant Teachings, Muslims Told

Bandar Seri Begawan - Religious authorities have advised Muslims not to be influenced by Islamic liberalism thinking or understanding.

In a Friday sermon, Imams said His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam made a Titah advising the people to be cautious against such Islamic liberalism. His Majesty on the eve of the New Hijrah Year 1434 expressed strong discontentment against Islamic deviationist aired around the world including contemporary terms such as "Liberal Islam", "Religious Pluralsm" and other similar thoughts or connotations propagated in various ways or platforms.

Hence, Imams urged Muslims not be influenced with such understanding that are against the belief Islamic liberalism is aimed at disintegrating Islamic understanding, which go against the principle teachings of Islam. Islamic liberalism is written by Western authors and Muslims whose mind have been tainted with their thinking. The authors said Islam is similar to other religions and free to be translated according to the development of the community. They have also tried to divert Muslim thinking by saying that the Islam community should be criticised or reviewed. They want Islam to always change in accordance to the time they pass through.

They have also conducted deviate teachings that all religions are equal and true. As such, every individual is free to choose their religion. Such teachings could pollute the minds of the youngergeneration who are easily influenced by new matters. Islamic liberalism is teachings and such ideology is against Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama'ah. Books on Islamic liberalism are translated in Malay in neighbouring countries where it is strongly condemned and prohibited by authorities there. Let us uphold the purity of Islam based on Al-Quran and As-Sunnah to gain blessings from Allah the Almighty.
