Bandar Seri Begawan - A 22-year-old man convicted on his own guilty plea of having sex twice with his 13-year-old girlfriend and holding obscene photos of her, had his statement of facts read in the Magistrate's Court and agreed to it.

Senior Magistrate Pg Masni Pg Hj Bahar fixed on January 12, 2013 the date of sentencing on January 12, 2013.

Supardi bin Haji Anuar @Haji Ibrahim works with an offshore company as a steward. He met the victim in April 2012 on the social networking site Facebook. Consequently they met at the public bathroom of Lagoon Park, Pandan 7, Kuala Belait and had sex there.

On December 18, 2012, the defendant sent a message to the victim to meet around midnight at her house in Kuala Belait. As agreed by the minor, the defendant went to her house and climbed into the victim's room through her open window and they had sex.

It was during this time, they were interrupted by a knock on the bedroom door and the victim's mother entered.

The mother immediately called the police on seeing what had occurred and the case was taken over by the Women and Children Abuse Investigation Unit.

The defendant was arrested and his phone was confiscated to be sent for digital forensic examination.

It was found to contain eight obscene photographs of the victim, which are the subject matter of the third, fourth and fifth charges.

Supardi pleaded for the court's leniency in passing sentence and promised to repent. He also informed the court of his intention to marry the victim but was denied by the victim's family.

He said this move was to take responsibility for what he had done and to not burden the police and the victim's family.

DPP Pg Jasmine Pg Hj Bahrin prosecuted the case.
