Bandar Seri Begawan - In conjunction with World Water Day 2013, the Ministry of Development through the Public Works Department (JKR) last evening organised a special lecture presentation on the significance of water conservation through a religious perspective at the Ash-Shaliheen Mosque.
The guest of honour at the event was the Minister of Development, YB Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman.
The event commenced with a mass Maghrib prayer and was followed by a special lecture, presented by a lecturer from Pusat Dakwah Islamiah Dr Andas Hj Ismuhadi bin Hj Abdullah. Shortly after the lecture, a mass Isyak prayer was held.
World Water Day is celebrated annually on March 22 as a way to focus attention on the importance of preserving clean water and providing necessary support for sustainable management of water resources.
One of the key strategic thrusts which is envisioned under the 10th National Development Plan (RKN10), High Quality and Sustainable Development Infrastructure, highlights the importance of adequate water supply infrastructure.
