SLA, BMC Hold Hari Raya Celebration In Sg Liang

Kuala Belait - The Sungai Liang Authority (SLA) and the Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) recently organised a Hari Raya Aidilfitri - celebration with the Mukim Liang community members in the Belait District with the cooperation of the members of the Consultative Council of Mukim Liang in Kg Sungai Liang, Kg Lumut 1 and Kg Lumut 2.

The Han Raya Open House, that took place on Saturday evening at the SPARK Multi-Purpose Hall in Sungai Liang, was organised in the spirit of the festivity as well as to foster closer relations with the local community members and other stakeholders of the new development at the Sungai Liang Industrial Park (SPARK) as well as to show their continuous support of the Brunei Methanol Co's projects.

The event heard speeches from the Deputy CEO of BMC, Hj Md Jamil bin Hj Md Salleh, and the Chairman of SLA, Pg Kerma Raja Pg Hj Kamarulzaman bin PPSDSB Pg Hj Ali.

In his speech, the chairman highlighted other upcoming developments, which included a jetty, as well as the power and water treatment plants to meet the requirements of SPARK investors.

He also took the opportunity to inform the public that the SPARK multi-purpose hall will be open for sport activities, such as badminton and netball, in October this year.

This year's celebration carried the theme of 'Dulu dan Sekarang' (or Now and Then), especially for youths in the audience. The event, which was attended by some 1,000 people from around the Mukim Liang area, also saw the cutting of a 24-feet long Kelupis prepared by the community of Mukim Liang.

Later, donations were also presented to the orphans of Mukim Liang by the wife of the SLA Chairman, Datin Hjh Junaidah bte Hj Othman. Among other activities, guests were treated to a number of live performances and lucky draws.
