Kuala Belait - The Takmir committee of RPN Kampung Pandan Mosque in the Belait district held a mosque-level Al-Quran reading competition for adults yesterday evening to select a candidate to represent the mosque in the upcoming district-level competition.
The competition was participated by five Qariah (female reader) and three Qari (male reader) which were comprised of the mosque's congregants. The participant who scored above 75 per cent at this stage would go on to compete in the Zone- and District-level competitions. Out of the eight candidates only, one managed to score 86.5 per cent obtained by Dyg Rohani binti Hj Hassan.
The district-level competition will be held on Jan 12 next year at the Sungai Teraban Mosque, where participants who scored above 75 per cent would be selected to compete in the quarter final round representing Belait District.
The Adult category Al-Quran Reading Competition for mosque, zone and district level 2012/2012M was conducted by the Imarah Section of Mosques Affairs Department in collaboration with the Mosques Affairs Office of Brunei-Muara, Belait, Tutong and Temburong as well as mosques, Suraus and Ibadah halls nationwide.
The quarter-final, semi-final and national finale rounds will be organised by the Syiar Islam Development and Relation Section under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
