Rimba Murder Suspect Remanded For A Week As Investigations Continue

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Magistrate's Court yesterday granted an extension of remand for one week on a murder suspect as investigations continue to be conducted into the Rimba murder case.

Cyrile Navarro Tagapan, a male 29-year-old Filipino national, is facing a charge of committing the murder of a 61-year-old government retiree, Abdullah bin Haji Hamid - who was not married and was at home alone at the time - at the deceased's home at No 22, Spg 49- 6-13, Jalan 66, RPN Kg Rimba, sometime between August 1 to August 9, 2012.

The penalty for this charge is death.

The defendant was arrested at his staff quarters in Kg Jangsak at around 1.28am on August 14, 2012.

Police found the deceased's mobile phone to be missing and it was traced back to the defendant.

Deputy Public Proescutor Pg Hjh Hana Pg Hj Mohammad prosecuted the case.
