Bandar Seri Begawan - At 10.15am, Friday, July 20, 2012, six young military cadet officers with latent potentials and outstanding records perished along with six Royal Brunei Armed Forces personnel in the country's worst aviation disaster ever.
As news of the tragedy trickled in, its sheer magnitude resonated across layers of society as thousands mourned the loss of sons of the soil. The nation was stunned beyond belief and the people joined together in grieving the loss.
Seven weeks have passed since the tragedy. For the family members of the Officer Cadets who lost their lives, their passing is too hard to accept for them and so it is for the nation. These brave and determined young men and women, such as the late (21700) OCdt Dk Nurazimah binti Pg Hassanan, sacrificed their time and energy to achieve their dreams of becoming heroes and heroines, to defend and protect their beloved nation.
"This is all Allah the Almighty's will and we are willing to accept the fate provisioned by Allah the Almighty. May Allah the Almighty bless the souls of those who have departed and may their souls be placed among those who are pious," said one of the Officer Cadet's family members.
This page is dedicated to the cadet officers from the 8th OCS intake whose budding careers came to an abrupt end after eight months of military training at the Officer Cadet School.
Let's celebrate their achievements and cherish the memories that they have left behind.
