Reading Carnival Draws To A Close

Kuala Belait - The four-day carnival for the Movement of Reading Culture, organised by the Language and Literature Bureau came to an end yesterday at the Conference Centre in Kuala Belait.

On the last day of the event, some of the activities arranged were colouring contests, 'find the hidden words in Arabic' contest, quiz solving, stage performances, as well as an appearance by a Toy Story mascot to entertain the children.

The guest of honour at the event was Awg Hj Yusof bin Hj Dulamin, Village Head of Kampong Mumong.

He also presented prizes for two categories of the colouring competition and the 'find the hidden words in Arabic' contest as well as the quiz winners at the event.

The objectives of the four-day event was in response to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's titan, which was to have a society that is knowledgeable as well as to instil the reading culture among Bruneian society, making the community more library-friendly and continuously seeking knowledge.

Booths were also set up at the event to enliven the carnival, each offering promotions for books, other products and services.

The participating companies were dBook Haus, GSabtu, Syarikat Teras Maju Bookstore and Pustaka Remaja, MPK Sungai Teraban, Takaful Brunei, and MPK Lorong 3 Seria.
