Bandar Seri Begawan - Do not leave your children and the elderly unattended inside a vehicle while the engine is still running, no matter how brief you believe you will be.

That was the advice provided by a police spokesperson following the Thursday, September 13, 2012, story about an incident in which a child drove his father's car right into the Dee Jay branch situated at Tanjung Bunut, which went viral after a video catching the entire incident was uploaded to popular social networking sites.

"Such an act could lead to danger, not only to a child, but also to people and property in the immediate area," the police spokesperson added.

Similar mishaps have occurred in the past, such as incidents where a car rammed into a Serusop restaurant; children were locked inside a car; parents who locked themselves out of their car had to physically rock it back and forth to wake up their child who was asleep inside; and an incident where a stranger drove away with a couple's car - while their child was inside - and the parents were out buying food.
