RBAF's Religious Military Department Organises Tahsinul Fikrah Programme

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Religious Military Department of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) with assistance from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and Islamic Dakwah Centre organised a "Tahsinul Fikrah" programme, mainly for officers with the rank of major, which commenced yesterday at the RBAF Counselling Centre.

The guest of honour at the event was Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Ghani bin Haji Abdullah, Head of RBAF Inspectorate Unit.

Lieutenant Colonel .4 Abdul Ghani touched on the essence of leadership as a gift from Allah the Almighty which needs to be carried out with a sense of responsibility. He said that the guideline that needed to be taken into account has been stated in the Quran and Sunnah concerning leadership.

The programme aimed to provide knowledge and understanding to RBAF officers in terms of leadership and spiritual aspects as well as leadership from an Islamic perspective with elements based on "taqwa", confidence and to be courteous in making decisions.

Some 30 officers participated in the two-day programme with the lectures discussed among others "Perspective of Military Leadership in Islam", "Military Leadership in Supporting the Vision of a Zikir Nation", "The Role of the Military on Community and Nation's Obligation of Fardhu Kifayah" and a Fardhu Kifayah workshop.

The presenters of the lectures were Dr Syed Abdul Hamid Al-Mandaly, an invited guest speaker from UNISSA; Capt Arifin bin Amit, Assistant Head of JAMAAT, Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Ustaz Hj Anwarie bin Hj Rawie, an officer from Islamic Dakwah Centre; and Lt Narulismandy bin Hj Samaih, Training Officer of JAMAAT, Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

Other activities in terms of spiritual aspects included Qiamulail, special talk during Subuh, Ratib Al-Attas and Duha Sunat prayers.

The closing ceremony of the programme will be held today.
