Bandar Seri Begawan - The Brunei-Muara District Office yesterday morning received donations for its orphans' fund from individual donors, private sector organisations and committee members in a Hari Raya celebration for the orphans.
The guest of honour at the event was Awg Hj Mohd Rozan bin Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yunos, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The festive ceremony started with a mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.
The Managing Director of Harini Catering Services, Lim Chai Huat, said he hoped the donations given to the BruneiMuara District Fund for Orphans would help to ease the burden of the orphans and let them feel the celebration of Hari Raya together. It was also hoped that donations from the private sector would increase in future.
Marini Catering Services Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Teguh Mesra Sdn Bhd and Central Refrigeration Company each donated B$1,000 cash. Phongmun Restaurant Sdn Bhd, Hiap Hin Trading Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Chai Yong, Sunning Sdn Bhd, Manria Sdn Bhd, May Fang Restaurant, Syarikat Pembangunan Makmor Jaya and individual donors each donated B$500. H&M Plastic Sdn Bhd and Fashion Furniture & Construction Sdn Bhd each donated B$300 to the Brunei-Muara District Fund for Orphans yesterday.
The donations from the private sector were received by the guest of honour who in turn handed them over to Awg Hj Jamain bin Momin, the Brunei-Muara District Officer, who received them on behalf of the fund.
A souvenir was later presented to the guest of honour. Awg Hj Mohd Rozan also distributed green packets to the orphans.
