Bandar Seri Begawan - An act of benevolence goes a long way in alleviating the misfortune and suffering of the less fortunate, and for this the efforts of caring and kind-hearted members of the public should be commended.
From the proceeds accumulated in charity boxes at cashier counters at their three stores, Giant TMC (B) Sdn Bhd yesterday presented donations totalling B$8,000 to Pusat Ehsan. The proceeds were collected throughout a seven-month duration from February 1, 2011 to August 31, 2011.
The mock cheque was presented by Giant TMC (B) General Manager Hj Abd Latip bin Isnin to Pusat Ehsan Senior Trustee Dato Paduka Awg Mohd Alimin bin Abd Wahab, with Giant TMC (B) Director Abd Halim bin Pehin OKDSS Hj Md Yussof as witness at the brief ceremony.
The guests were also treated to lively dance performances by members of Pusat Ehsan. A non-government and nonprofit organisation, Pusat Ehsan is well-placed to provide quality education and rehabilitation services for physically and intellectually challenged individuals.
The centre was officially opened on October 1, 2000. Since then, it has received countless donations from government agencies, private sector organisations and members of the public.
