Bandar Seri Begawan - Syasya Badrina binti Awang Badarudin of Pusar Ulak Primary School emerged as the champion in the Brunei Zone I inter-primary school chess competition held yesterday at the multi-purpose hall of Perpindahan Lambak Kanan Primary School. Following close behind were Alif Syammary bin Samsul of Datu Ahmad Primary School, who came in second and Ryan Aldwin of St George's School in third.

The competition was organised by the Sports and Games Section, Co-Curriculum Department of the Ministry of Education, and was coordinated by Datu Ahmad Primary School.

Cikgu Hj Suhaili bin Hj Ja'afar, the Zone I senior education officer was the guest of honour, who also presented the prizes to the winners.

Fourteen schools participated in the annual competition, including three private schools namely St Andrew's School, Chung Hwa Middle School and St George's School.
