Beijing, People's Republic of China - His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday held a meeting with Yang Jeichi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.
Both Ministers discussed bilateral relations and regional cooperation.
His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah after the meeting attended a luncheon given in his honour by Yang Jeichi. His Royal Highness is in Beijing on a three-day visit at the invitation of the Foreign Minister Yang Jeichi.
China is willing to work with Brunei to deepen pragmatic cooperation and enhance bilateral friendship, Yang said, noting that China-Brunei relations have seen smooth development since they established diplomatic ties in 1991, CrieEnglish.com reported quoting Xinhua news agency.
Brunei is ready to work with China to further high-level exchanges and promote bilateral cooperation, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah said. He said that cooperation between the two nations has achieved progress in politics, economy, culture, education, tourism and other fields.
On China-Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) relations, Yang said that China values its friendship and cooperation with the Asean and will support Brunei on holding East Asian 'summits this year so as to push forward mutually beneficial cooperation and jointly safeguard the healthy and stable development of relations.
HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah said Brunei, holding the Asean's rotating presidency in 2013, is willing to promote Asean-China ties, and spoke highly of China's contribution to relations between the two sides.
