Bandar Seri Begawan - A group of pre-vocational students from Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab Secondary School, accompanied by two homeroom teachers, paid a visit to the National Rice Production Project (NRPP), Crop Industry Division, Department of Agriculture and Agrifood under the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, in Kampong Wasan.

Upon arriving, they were greeted by the Head of NRPP, Sheikh Mohd Radzi bin DP Sheikh Hj Adnan. Sheikh Mohd Radzi first gave a brief introduction of the unit and its functions. Following that, they were given a tour and also the opportunity to measure the moisture content of paddy using a tool called the seed moisture meter.

Afterwards, an agronomist, Bibi Khadizah binti. Hj Rusli, gave them another tour of Wasan Paddy Plantation Area, where they were told that the majority of 'Padi Laila' is grown there and it can produce on average three metric tonnes per hectare. The plantation area is managed by Mukim Pengkalan Batu Consultative Council and KOSEKA, an association of former army personnel.

Cikgu Russlinah binti Abdullah, Deputy Principal (Academic) of Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab Secondary School then presented a certificate of appreciation and souvenir to Sheikh Mohd Radzi.

The pre-vocational programme is designed by the Special Education Unit to provide opportunities for students with moderate to severe impairments to achieve their full potential and learn various skills in an inclusive secondary school setting.
