Bandar Seri Begawan - A police sergeant facing a charge of raping his 14-year-old neighbour was acquitted of the allegation yesterday by High Court Justice Dato Paduka Steven Chong as evidence was found to be weak to pursue the case.

Sergeant 2107 Nawawi bin Abdullah was alleged to have raped a 14-year-old neighbour's daughter at the police housing compound near midnight on July 12, 2007.

Sergeant Nawawi was represented by Defence Counsel Rozaiman Rahman.

DPP Hjh Emeralda PD Hj Abas prosecuted the case.
