Bandar Seri Begawan - In a bid to foster closer ties within the photography associations, the Photographic Society of Brunei Darussalam (Pertubuhan Fotografi Negara Brunei Darussalam, PFNBD) held an awards night with the Jebat Photography Club from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah recently.
The event held at the Youth Centre, Bandar Seri Begawan also saw an awards ceremony for PFNBD whereby the Advisor of PFNBD, Awg Hj Jumat bin Hj Taha was present as the guest of honour together with Encik Mohd Idremzizan bin Idris, Chairman of the Jebat Photography Club.
In his welcoming address, President of PFNBD highlighted the background of the association as well as recent activities held to promote photography in the Sultanate.
He hoped that through such gathering, it would further strengthen the existing friendship and act as a platform for future collaboration and exchange ideas in the field of art photography.
The event followed with a presentation of the Honorary Fellowship awards to Awg Hamidun Hj Md Noor and Hj Ali Hamzah bin Hj Gafar. For the Honorary Associates, the awardees were Awg Mohd Noriman bin Mohamed Ali, Awg Hadinas Amirwardi bin Hj Mohammad and Pg Mohd Jeffry bin Pg Hj Tuah. Meanwhile, Chong Sey Lo was voted as the Best Photographer of 2012 and Hj Kahan bin Hj Nassir won the Outing Photography of 2012.
The event also marked the official launch of the Best Photographer of the Year 2013, which will last until November 2013.
Shortly after the announcements, guests were brought td view an art exhibition from the collection of the PFNBD.
