Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 220 Kindergarten Three students of Nusa Laila Puteri School (NLPS) were celebrated for their success at the 34th Convocation and Education Concert yesterday, at the Main Hall of the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
The guest of honour at the convocation was Pg Hjh Sarah binti Pg Hj Kamaluddin, Director-General of Education at the Ministry of Education.
The ceremony started with the national anthem, the recitation of a 'doa' and the reading of Sarah Yaasiin. This was followed by a speech by students in Malay and Arabic and a storytelling in English.
Dr Hjh Sharifah Noor binti Hj Syed Ibrahim, the Principal of Nusa Laila Puteri School in her opening speech said, "Nusa Laila Puteri School is the first in Brunei Darussalam to hold a convocation ceremony for their Kindergarten students for the 34th time. The aim of the convocation is to celebrate the students' success in finishing their Kindergarten school and to welcome the students in Year 1. The students also have the chance to learn three languages, which is Malay, English and Arabic, while religious education is the basis."
The speech was followed by the presentation of certificates by the guest of honour to the 220 KG3 students from Nusa Laila Puteri School Gadong, Sungai Buloh, Kiulap and Tanjong Bunut branches.
The event also saw 75 Kindergarten pupils from all four branches receiving educational prizes, presented by Pg Othman bin Pg Mohamed Daud, Acting Director of Private Schools, Ministry of Education.
Six students also received the Insurance Islam TAIB Award, presented by Awg Hj Abdul Majid bin Hj Hidup, Marketing Officer of Insurans Islam TAIB.
The ceremony ended with a farewell song.
