Bandar Seri Begawan - Golden Corporation Sdn Bhd, a strategic partner of Semaun Resources Sdn Bhd and a leading quality seafood producer received a group of personnel comprising 50 new officers and staff from various departments and agencies under the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR), a press release stated.
The group was welcomed on arrival and taken on a first-hand tour of the factory by the company's Managing Director, Mr Richard Chuang Hsi Shan and other staff of the company. Prior to the visit, the MIPR personnel attended a briefing at the Brunei Industrial Development Authority (BINA) headquarters in Gadong to familiarise themselves with the functions and roles of BINA. The group had attended similar briefings and made visits with other agencies under MIPR as part of their induction course.
BINA is one of the agencies under MIPR whose primary function is to facilitate the development and growth of SMEs in Brunei by providing land complete with infrastructure and readily available buildings for SMEs to venture out in business.
Golden Corporation has been operating at the Serambangun industrial estate in Tutong since 2010. Its principal business is in aquaculture and seafood processing. It includes the farming, harvesting and processing of fish and shrimp.
By the first quarter of next year, the company plans to venture into value-added retail seafood products/snacks for the mass market. The company also provides assistance and technical know-how to local shrimp and fish aqua-farmers. At present, the company caters to the domestic and Asian regional markets, and is in the process of finalising exports to both the US and EU markets.
