Bandar Seri Begawan - A teacher who embraced Islam last week was celebrated yesterday at Kg Kiudang Mosque.

The ceremony commenced with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by a Dikir Marhaban presentation by Primary 6 students, led by the school's principal.

The teacher was Nur Syahida Abdullah Koo, formerly known as Koo Siew Eng.

The intention was already there from the time Nur Syahida was still in school. And after serving as a teacher for 16 years among colleagues who were mostly Muslims, she decided to make that transition, as some of her family members had already done.

The ceremony concluded with a presentation of a souvenir by the school principal to Nur Syahida.
