Bandar Seri Begawan - NBT (Brunei) Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Brunei, has clarified that its 'Buy a Toyota & Win for your Future' draw held at the Indoor Stadium (main venue) and at NBT's Kuala Belait Showroom (satellite venue) on January 11, 2013 was fair and independently supervised by independent draw auditors to ensure all participating Toyota owners at both venues stood an equal chance at winning.
The clarification was made following an alleged 'unfair draw' accusation made by certain participants at the Indoor Stadium. A clip of the alleged 'unfair draw' was also circulated on Facebook as well as mobile application, WhatsApp.
The misunderstanding is said to have occurred after the winning voucher was drawn, during which time the winner, though not present at the Indoor Stadium, was nonetheless declared the victor. Many of customers were unaware of the satellite draw venue in Kuala Belait, and that the winner was in fact present at the NBT KB Showroom, with all the required documentation.
Soon, a segment of the participants at the Indoor Stadium started venting their frustration at NBT officials on duty, and the police had to be called in to control the situation. The case is still under investigation by the police.
The following press statement was released by NBT yesterday to clarify the matter. It read: NBT's 'Buy a Toyota & Win For Your Future' draw for Toyota owners at the Indoor Stadium in Berakas (main venue) and at NBT's Kuala Belait Showroom (satellite venue) on Jan 11 was independently supervised by independent draw auditors, Lee Corporatehouse Associates, to guarantee that all participating Toyota owners at both venues had a fair and equal chance of winning.
NBT is pleased to announce that Toyota owner, Sukin binti Sabak (IC No 129479), who was present at the NBT Kuala Belait Showroom at the time of the draw, fairly and squarely won the B$18,000 first prize, as did the winners of all the other prizes. All lucky draw results including the first prize were independently confirmed and verified by the auditors as correct.
