Corpse found under fresh layer of cement at Salambigar house
Bandar Seri Begawan - The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) yesterday evening found the body of a woman at a house in Salambigar.
The RBPF has not ruled out foul play as it investigates the case.
The discovery might be linked to the case of a woman reported missing this month but the authorities have yet to confirm the body's identity.
The husband of the missing woman who was at the scene yesterday told reporters that the house where the body was discovered belongs to his wife's friend.
During the Chinese New Year, her friend who had left the country for the festivities had asked the missing woman to drop by to keep an eye on the house while she (friend) was away.
The friend who came back last Sunday noticed something odd at her home as there was a fresh layer of cement in the compound. However, she did not suspect anything was wrong until yesterday when she learned that the woman had been missing for days.
The husband of the missing woman who wished to remain anonymous claimed that there was a foul smell coming from the fresh cement which also attracted many flies.
The RBPF was contacted and the area was cordoned off Crime Scene Investigation Unit personnel were seen entering the compound at about 1pm and stayed there until the body was found.
The local press reported that a 39-year-old woman was reported missing recently.
Recalling the day when his wife went missing, the husband said, "It was my son's birthday and she went out to buy a cake for him at about 11 in the morning and she never returned.
"I tried to call my wife many times but I could not reach her. At night, I contacted the police to look for my missing wife."
He added, "My wife would never leave us because she is a loving wife and mother. She loves our 11-year-old boy".
