Mukim Kiudang Celebrates Family Day

Tutong - Mukim Kiudang took its turn to celebrate Family Day yesterday which has been celebrated by all of the Mukims since the national level celebration was held in May. The Family Day celebration took place at Kiudang, Primary School Tutong 1.

Datin Paduka Hjh.Adina binti Hj Othman, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, was present as the guest of honour.

Datin Hjh Adina joined the celebration early in the morning which began with mass aerobics exercises. The event continued with a religious talk entitled "My Family, My Hope", which was the theme of the National Family Day celebration this year.

Also present at the celebration were YB Orang Kaya Jaya Putera Dato Paduka Awg Hj Muhd Taha bin Abd Rauf, Penghulu of Mukim Keriam, and YB Awg Hj Ramli bin Hj Lahit, Penghulu of Mukim Telisai, both of whom are members of the Legislative Council.

Also present at the event were Awg Hj Shamsul Bahrin bin Hj Mohd Hussain, Acting Tutong District Officer, other senior government officers and other penghulus from the district.

According to chairman of the ceremony, Awg Hj Abd Rahim bin Abdullah Yakin, the Penghulu of Mukim Kiudang, the Mukim registered a total of 4,694 residents in 2011, and senior citizens that have reached 60 years old and receiving an old age allowance totalled around 487 people, which is 10 per cent of the total number of residents in the Mukim.

The event also saw the oldest person in the Mukim receiving a token of appreciation.

The religious talk was presented by Ustaz Hj Fansuri Sharimi @ Mansur bin Mohd All from the Islamic Dakwah Centre.

Awg Hj Abd Rahim in his speech believed that the religious talk would enliven spirit of family bonds and enhance the understanding of living together as a family.
