Bandar Seri Begawan - The issue of manpower in the Legislative Council Department was raised during the 9th Legislative Council meeting yesterday afternoon as Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Maharaja Kerna Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Yaakub bin Pehin Orang Kaya Maharaja Diraja Dato Paduka Awang Haji Zainal voiced concerns on the amount of work to be completed as Brunei Darussalam plays host to one of the region's biggest meeting.
"With just 54 officers, the task to organise the Asean Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) is perhaps too demanding and I am asking for relevant government agencies to provide them with assistance not just in terms of manpower," he said.
In response, the Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister's Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, said that the expected challenges that come with the AIPA has been taken into consideration and assured that the Legislative Council Department will be given the support it needs.
