Bandar Seri Begawan - There is literally a mobile application (app) for almost everything in the world. And now there will be an app in Brunei soon to apply for leave.
Tailored especially- for civil servants in the country, the mobile app will enable government servants to apply for leave with just a press of a button, said the Public Service Department (JPA) yesterday.
According to an officer from JPA, the mobile app, which is called the Government Employee Management Systems (GEMS), will be available especially for civil service personnel who are currently using smartphones running on either Android or iOS.
Smartphones now are all pervasive in the world of technology, business and entertainment, thus, as part of JPAs initiative, GEMS will be introduced with the cooperation of BAG Networks Sdn Bhd.
If a government official has missed a flight or is stranded somewhere outside Brunei with no chance of getting back home and start work the next day, he or she doesn't have to despair. Whip out the smartphone, open the app, log on and just apply for leave through GEMS.
The mobile App will display an 'Absence Request' page where government employees need to input the date(s) of their leave and type of leave (eg annual leave).
According to an officer from JPA, the app is still undergoing modification and changes need to be made before its official launching.
