A Dikir Marhaban was also held to fete a member of staff at the ministry and his family who recently converted to Islam

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources yesterday hosted a religious event in commemoration of the Islamic new year 1434 Hijrah.

The guest of honour at the event was the Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Seth Awg Hj Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar.

Also in attendance was the Permanent Secretary at the ministry, Dyg Hjh Normah Suria Hayati binti Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama (Dr) Hj Awg Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri; as well as deputy permanent secretaries, heads of departments, senior officers and personnel at the ministry.

The proceedings began with the recital of Al-Quran followed by a lecture. The highlight of the event was a Dikir Marhaban to fete new Muslim converts, Awg Hj Wali Vassco bin Muhammad Isa Taman and his family.

An annual eventheld by the ministry, this year's ceremony was attended by around 200 staff at the ministry.
