Ministry Vows Better Healthcare Services With New Projects

Memorandum of Agreement inked to construct two health centres

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Health held a signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Agreement to construct two new health centres in Lambak Kanan and Kampong Sungai Kebun called the Sultan Omar 'Ali Saifuddien' (SOAS) Health Centre at the Rizqun International Hotel yesterday.

Witnessing the event was the Minister of Health, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Hj Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohd Yusof.

Signing on behalf of the ministry was the Permanent Secretary Haji Awang Saifulbahri bin Haji Awang Mansor along with a representative from Arkitek Rekajaya as the consultant for the Lambak Kanan Health Centre and a representative from Eco Bumi Arkitek as the consultant for the SOAS Health Centre. The signing was also witnessed by Acting Deputy Director of Project Development at the Ministry of Health, Haji Zalidi bin Hj Abd Latif The Lambak Kanan Health Centre project is an allocation under the 9th National Development Plan (NDP) to replace the current Berakas 'B', Kg Sungai Hanching Health Centre. Other consultants involved in the project are Othman and Associates (Civil and Structure Engineer), KR Kamarulzaman and Associates (Mechanical and Electrical Engineer) and MRBC Partnership (Quantity Surveyor).

The SOAS Health Centre project at Kampong Sungai Kebun, meanwhile, comes under the 10th NDP to replace the existing centre. The consultants for this project are Seri Bumi Konsultant (Civil and Structure Engineer), Sepakat Setia Perunding (B) Sdn Bhd (Mechanical and Electrical Engineer) and PUBM Quantity Surveyor Brunei.

Both projects have been initiated to provide better services in terms of comfort and efficiency to existing patients in respective areas whilst ensuring that the centre can effectively treat more patients at a given time. Once the new building is completed, it will provide more comprehensive services that will be in line with the ministry's strategic plan for a 'One-Stop Health Care Centre' Officials projected that the Lambak Kanan Health Centre project will commence by year-end while the SOAS Health Centre will commence in early 2014.

Also at the ceremony were senior officials from the ministry, officials from the respective consultant companies as well as officers and staff from the Ministry of Health.
