Bandar Seri Begawan - The journey of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to Medina from Mecca is celebrated annually during the Islamic new year, in remembrance of the Prophet's struggles in the name of the Islam.

This was highlighted by an invited representative of the Islamic Dakwah Centre, Dr Ustaz Hj Mohd Adi Zaky bin Hj Metassim during a ceremony held by the Ministry of Finance at its Dewan Theatre yesterday. The speaker also said that as civil servants, we should learn the teachings of Hijrah in order to excel in our daily duties.

The guest of honour at the ceremony was the Minister of Finance II at the Prime Ministers Office, Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Abdul Rahman bin Hj Ibrahim. Also present were the permanent secretary, deputy permanent secretaries, senior officials and staff at the ministry.

The celebration is an annual activity held by the ministry and this year, the ceremony was organised by the Treasury Department with the Acting Accountant General, Awg Hj Zakaria bin Hj Serudin as chairman of the event's organising committee.
