Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Communications held a ceremony - organised by the Marine Department - to celebrate the Islamic new year at its Dewan Amar Pahlawan in Jalan Menteri Besar.

The guest of honour was the Minister of Communications, Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar.

The event began with a Surah Al-Fatihah recitation led by Awg Hj Suhaimi bin Hj Md Noor, followed by a welcoming address presented by the Director of the Marine Department, Hj Matnor bin Hj Salleh in his capacity as the chairman of the 1434 Hijrah celebration committee.

The celebration included a lecture presented by an invited speaker from the Islamic Dakwah Centre, Awg Hj Suhaimi bin Hj Md Noor, commemorating the journey made by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from Mecca to Medina. The event was further enlivened with a Tausyeh presentation.

Also present were the Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications, Awg Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yusof; the Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary Pg Hj Md Zain bin Pg Hj Abd Razak; division directors, head of departments, officers and staff at the ministry.
