Minister Calls For Teamwork From Medical Staff In Holy Land

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Minister of Health, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Mohd Yusof, called for teamwork and cooperation amongst the medical staff in carrying-out multi tasking jobs while in the holy land of Mecca and Medina.

He also called on them to be concerned of those who are in need, especially the senior citizens, and to give excellent service to the Hal pilgrims. With a healthy body, one could perform Haj better.

He made this remark in a thanksgiving ceremony for Haj medical officers and intending pilgrims of the Ministry of Health yesterday.

The Minister also urged them to recite Doa and Zikir for their health and wellbeing to be able to carry-out their duties while in the holy land.

He also called on them to consult the intending pilgrims amid the current intense heat in the holy land, and advise them to look after their health and to eat a proper diet and drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.

Five medical officers and 15 nurses will be stationed for this year's Haj season. 16 officers and staff of the Ministry too will, perform Haj this year, and they received contributions presented by the Minister.

Meanwhile Dr Hj Abdul Rashid bin Hj Mohammad (head of the delegation) said that blood tests, physicals, ECGs and chest x-ray tests were carried out especially to the elderly- aged 50 years and above - and those of high risk. Intending Haj pilgrims with health problems are referred to specialists.

He said cargo containing over 791 kg of medicine and medical equipments is safely on its way to the holy land.

The basic life support procedures in using medical items, practical training and lectures have been made as a preparation to the medical officers and staff.

Eight Haj medical officers and staff will leave early to enable them to release the cargo and to build the clinic, which should be built before the arrival of the pilgrims.

The clinic must be in accordance to the standards approved by the Haj authorities in Mecca and Medina.

The handing over of appointment letters to Haj medical officers and staff was also held.
