Meeting Held For Upcoming Brunei Regatta

Bandar Seri Begawan - In the effort to ensure the smooth running of the 2013 Royal Regatta scheduled to be held on February 3, Sunday, a closed-door meeting was organised with government officials involved with the biggest boat race event in the nation, held at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Present at the meeting was the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi bin Hj Mohd Yussof, as well as Dato Paduka Awg Hj Abdul Majid bin Mangarshah, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, who chaired the meeting.

Also present at the meeting was Dato Paduka Dr Hj Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Hj Abidin, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

In an interview with the Head of the Putra Kuala Lawas delegation team, Hj Abdul Kadir bin Hj Nayan stated that they have been preparing for the actual day of the competition before December 2012.

The 2013 Royal Regatta is a very unique event as in the previous year, a large number of tourists coming in from Sabah, Sarawak, and especially Lawas flocked to Brunei to watch the event take place, in addition to the excitement of having members of the royal family watching as well as participating in the Regatta.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has Consented to grace the Brunei Regatta that will be held at the Brunei River on February 3 to witness the biggest boat race competition in the country which has attracted competitors from neighbouring countries as well as other nations.

The Brunei Regatta 2013 will feature a total of 12 traditional boat race events, four categories for the speedboat competition, two categories for water taxis and two events for the jet skis.
