Bandar Seri Begawan - A two-day Charity Expo 2012 was officially launched yesterday by the Acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Datin Paduka Hjh Adina binti Othman, as the event's guest of honour.
The expo is a joint effort by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and Chinese charitable association JiDaoGe (JDG).
The event, which is taking place at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas will end today.
Also present at yesterday's launch were Hj Abdul Malik bin Hj Mohammad, the Director of Youth and Sports and Sim Chong Siang, a representative of Adison Marketing Services.
Jackson Ting, the Chairman of JDG and the event's organiser, in his welcoming speech said that the proceeds collected through the charity expo would be distributed to JiDaoGe and the Belia Brunei Prihatin Association of the Youth and Sports Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
"It is hoped that this charity event will be able to raise awareness on the importance of the kind and compassionate spirit among members of the public, as well as to enhance the reputation of being a charitable society."
A total of 86 booths from 41 participating exhibitors have been set up, and various kinds of items and products are on display and are sold at reasonable prices.
