Bandar Seri Begawan - The MASTERA 'Pantun' Workshop continued at Lake Sarubing on Friday as participants helped contribute in the efforts of enhancing the invaluable heritage embraced in the Malay Language.
In its entirety, the programme is a pragmatic combination of seminars, workshops and a festival to fete and empower youths to fully utilise the richness of the Malay Language, especially in the form of 'Pantun' or Malay poetry, that embodies a traditional oral form of expression in the Malay culture.
The event is organised by the Language and Literature Bureau. MASTERA is an acronym for Majlis Sastera Asia Tenggara, or Southeast Asia Literature Council,
Some 50 youths from Brunei, Indonesia, .Malaysia and Singapore participated in the event, with working papers formulated by poetry experts and researchers in MASTERA, member countries in the MASTERA Brunei programme themed "Familiarisation in Poetry Reading".
One of the highlights of the programme is the 'Pantun' Festival to be held at the Language and Literature Bureau this evening, and this will signify the successful conclusion of the concerted efforts made by the relevant parties.
The guest of honour is expected to be the Director of the Language and Literature Bureau, Dyg Hjh Aminah binti Hj Momin.
