Bandar Seri Begawan - A local 32-year-old man who denied and admitted to offences in the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court over the weekend had a change of heart whilst in remand and yesterday pleaded guilty to auto theft as well as receiving, and assisting in the disposal of, stolen property.

Given his unfavourable long track record, Senior Magistrate Lailatul Zubaidah Hussin gave Jeridin bin Minggas some credit in pleading guilty and so sentenced him to jail for 23 months.

The defendant stole a car parked at Zaimur Asri Motor, Bangunan Pehin Khatib Hj Mohd Yusof, the Bengkurong Complex some time during the wee hours between September 30 and Oct 1, 2012.

He also met with an Indonesian man on Sept 30, receiving stolen property - an air-conditioner unit, two fans, fluorescent bulbs and crystal lights, before paying the foreigner a sum of $140.

The defendant then sold off the items.

DPP Dk Didi Pg Latiff prosecuted the case.
