Man Found Guilty Of Theft Housebreaking

Bandar Seri Begawan - A local man aged 31 years was yesterday sentenced by the Intermediate Court, with Deputy Public Prosecutor, Sahron Yeo on the case, to four years in jail with two strokes of caning after being found guilty of theft and housebreaking in order to commit theft.

Judge Pg Hjh Hanani Pg Hj Metusain heard that the defendant, Mohd Jufakhri Irwan bin Mohammad, stole a CD player, a Huawei Tablet S7 and a key from a car parked ate Stadium Negara Hassanal Bolkiah sometime between 3.15pm and 5.50pm on November 17 this year.

The defendant went to the stadium for the purpose of theft and saw a vehicle with its door open, which he soon made his target. Also, on Sept 30 at about 6.30am, it was heard that he went to the same place with the intention of stealing and saw another car with its door ajar.

The defendant parked next to it, looked inside, and opened the boot, where he took a bag containing money, an iPhone, house keys and the vehicle's spare key.

Then, last Nov 10, between 9.25am and 10.35am, he forced entry through a veranda sliding door into a house at Jalan Kebangsaan Lama, Kg Sg Akar, before taking a pendrive, a Blackberry phone, an iPod Touch, jewellery, $600 in cash, as well as some RM, GBP, Euro and AUD currencies.
