Sengkurong - Luck was on Makrojaya's customer Shamsul Basri's side yesterday, after his name was picked amongst the thousands of lucky draw entries as the grand prize winner of the cash prize of $5,000.
Shamsul, who hails from Tutong when contacted by the management of Makrojaya was initially speechless and sounded in disbelief until the MC convinced him that he was the big winner yesterday.
Customers gathered at the department store in Sengkurong branch waiting anxiously for the announcement of the lucky draw winners.
Makrojaya Sales Lucky Draw promotion began last March 2012 and concluded at the end of last month, offering other attractive prizes for 15 other winners of the draw promotion.
According to Manager Haja Facrudeen, this is the fourth lucky draw promotion the store had conducted.
The event was a way for the company to show its appreciation to its loyal customers. Its Sengkurong branch was chosen to host the draw as a farewell gesture as yesterday marked the last day of the branch's business operation.
Haja said that the Sengkurong branch was being closed because the building is going to be renovated and will be leased out to a different company but its other branches in Muara Town, Kiulap, Mentiri and Lumut are still in operation.
Apart from the grand draw winners, four other winners also walked away with the top four prizes of an Akira 42" TV, Akira 32" TV, Sharp 21" TV and a Sony DVD, which was won by Fatimah Tahir (00-260533), Sutirah Muhtadi (51-061982), Carlo Navelino (51-041454) and Shah Dunin (00- 263034) respectively.
Five other lucky winners Sagayaraj (51- 239263), Nona Riana Johari (01-060782), Dk Samsiah Pg Hj Othman (00-1285006), Joffri Hj Pungut (00-128752) and Pg Hjh Shaerah (00- 053935) won themselves a $50 cash voucher each.
Consolation winners from 10th to 16th prizes meanwhile walked away with attractive electrical prizes such as iron, rice cooker, stand fan, blender, oven, coffee maker and juicer.
Earlier in the day, the department store held its closing down sale, marking down all the prices at that branch with prices going for as low as $1 per item.
