Bandar Seri Begawan - A thirty-one year old man who admitted to performing an indecent act towards his sister-in-law and was convicted of outraging her modesty on his own plea was sentenced to jail for two years, with three strokes of cane.

The defendant, a security guard at a government religious school, married to the victim's younger sister, was persistent in his restraint to the victim until he performed the indecent act.

Senior Magistrate Hj Nabil Daraina PD HJ Badaruddin, amongst others, said that the defendant is no stranger to-the victim and performed a despicable act.

He had abused his otherwise trusted position while his demeanour showed no remorse by giving excuses and preventing from being held accountable for anything he had done in this case. The victim was helpless in her own house even with a third person present during the incident.

DPP Hjh S Emeralda PD Hj Abas prosecuted the case.
