Bandar Seri Begawan - A 31-year-old local man was convicted after pleading guilty to five charges of theft and one of criminal trespass before the Magistrate's Court in the capital.
Senior Magistrate, Haji Nabil Daraina PD Ustaz Hj Badaruddin will pass sentence on the defendant tomorrow.
Mohd Eswandy bin Mohd Hamir stole a Nissan Serena parked at the Rangas cemetery in Sumbiling on the morning of December 27, 2012.
On December 15, 2012, the defendant stole a Toyota Kijang parked at CA Mohamed Restaurant, Gadong.
The defendant also stole two carpets from a shop at The Mall, Gadong some time between December 17 and 21, 2012 with another person.
Subsequently, the defendant then stole a Canon DSLR camera, four camera lenses and a camera lens filter from Grand City Hotel at Batu Bersurat on January 11, 2013. Then on the following day, the defendant trespassed into the compound of a home in Kg Rimba. Then on January 18, 2013, the defendant stole a Toyota Kijang from One Utama Motors Sdn Bhd at Batu Besurat.
In another separate case, Mohd Eswandy was jointly charged with four other persons of theft offences.
Senior Magistrate, Haji Nabil Daraina heard Mohd Eswandy and two others plead guilty to the charges of theft while another two defendants denied the theft charges and will be going for trial from July 17 to 24, 2013.
The defendants who denied the charges were released on bail of $5,000 or two local sureties.
